Greetings and welcome to the Kankakee Valley Intermediate School website. The Intermediate School is home to approximately five hundred awesome fourth and fifth grade students. The school building opened in 2000 and is a safe, well-maintained facility. At Kankakee Valley Intermediate, we “Enlighten Minds for Brighter Futures”.
Your child’s intermediate school years are a unique stage in his or her life. During this period of time, students develop more autonomy, and they transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Our curriculum framework is based on learning in the core subjects of Reading and Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Classes in art, music, and physical education round out our children’s educational experience. Our staff is committed to maximizing learning and sharply focusing on academic excellence.
Kankakee Valley Intermediate School values the integration of technology in our students’ learning experiences. Each student has access to his or her own Chromebook, and all classrooms are equipped with a Promethean Interactive Board. The Kankakee Valley School Corporation has embraced e-Learning on certain days when school is closed due to weather or other emergency. Students are introduced to Project Lead the Way, an experience where they are engaged in hands-on activities, projects, and problems.
The Kankakee Valley Intermediate School family is characterized by happy respectful students, concerned caring parents, and a highly qualified dedicated school staff. We recognize that our students depend on support both from home and school, and we strive to develop that partnership. Be assured that the success of each child is of foremost importance, and we will do everything we can at school to nurture your child and carry out our responsibilities as professional educators.
