We need to know each child as an individual - their strengths, their problems, their interests, their aspirations, and their needs. We need to make provisions for all children to participate as individuals and as members of groups, in order to develop a sense of belonging, to grow in creative powers, to solve problems, plan, decide, act, evaluate, to appreciate others, and to accept responsibility. We have a major responsibility in developing children who are healthy in body and mind.</li> <li>We believe that all pupils need to learn to be active, functioning citizens of a constantly changing society by acquiring competence in the basic tools of learning. <br> We also believe that each child should acquire a love of and an appreciation for the American way of life. By enjoying the privilege and accepting responsibility of citizenship, a staunch moral character will develop which enfolds in the desire to improve in those competencies essential to effective personal and social living.</li> <li>We believe that learning best takes place when the experiences planned are in keeping with the developmental growth of pupils. Activities must be vital and meaningful to those participating and experiences should be cooperatively planned and carried out by pupils and teachers in a stimulating and happy learning environment. There should be a great variety of active learning experiences in which students set for themselves high quality standards in work habits and workmanship.
