The Internet is a community of networks that connects computers world-wide. This global community is called "cyberspace." First-time users need to get an "Acceptable Use Policy" signed by their parents in order to be able to use the Internet at KVHS Media Center.

To navigate around cyberspace, you only need to click on an underlined word (or phrase) to take you to additional sites.

The Media Center's Role in the School

The Media Center is central to the instructional program at KANKAKEE VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL (KVHS). The school serves grades nine through twelve and has a total enrollment of over 1000 students. The majority of our students are enrolled in college preparatory courses. Our students achieve SAT scores above state, and national averages.
The Media Center seeks to promote and increase student achievement, aligning with the curriculum by:
    • providing access to current resources and the latest information technology
    • enhancing student competency with information skills (ability to access, organize and interpret information)
    • introducing students to telecommunications as a means of information retrieval
    • purchasing curriculum based materials using the Library Bill of Rights and with collection development statistics from actual use.
