Kougar Kindness Week

We will be celebrating Kougar Kindness Week from March 18-March 22.  This years theme will be focusing on how we are all a important part of the KV Community!  We will focus on making our school a place filled with kindness!  Each day we would love for the kids to participate as much as possible!  Following are the theme for each day of the week:

Monday, March 18- Kindness can be the sunshine on a cloudy day.  Everyone wear your brightest colors!

Tuesday, March 19- Kindness can make the world a little brighter.  Everyone wear your sunglasses!

Wednesday, March 20- Let us build our community- we may be different but together we are beautiful.  Wear your best mismatched outfit!

Thursday, March 21- Show your BIG HEART.  Be a team player, and wear your favorite team shirt or colors.

Friday, March 22- Be a superhero for kindness!  Dress like your favorite superhero today!

Robotics Team

This year Mrs. Dietrich coached a Robotics Team at KVIS, and they traveled to different schools to compete.  In all 3 of their competitions the team had set goals for themselves and improved steadily with each competition!  In the final competition, they traveled to LaPorte and placed third!  We are proud of the team's dedication and time spent; and to commit a few Saturdays to be part of the first ever KVIS Robotics Team!  Thank you also to Mrs. Dietrich for her time and commitment!

Math Bowl

Congratulations to our Math Bowl Team!  The team traveled to Boone Grove and ended the regular contest in a four-way tie for first place!  After three tie-breaking questions, they placed third!  Congratulations to all of the Math Bowl Members for their hard work and dedication during the Math Bowl Season! A special thanks also to Mrs. Lambert and Mrs. Hoffman for the extra time they put in to coach a great group of kids!

Award-Winning Artists

We had seventeen students that had their artwork chosen to be displayed in the Prairie Arts Council 26th Annual Regional Art Show!  The students were honored at a reception on Sunday, February 17th.  Thank you to Mrs. Zeilmann for choosing, mounting and displaying all of the art projects at the Carnegie Center.  The students and Mrs. Zeilmann represented KVIS very well with their beautiful artwork!

The State of Indiana changed Indiana's student achievement and growth testing program from ISTEP+ to ILearn beginning this school year.  There will only be one testing period for ILearn, and that testing period will be from April 22-May 17.  It is our hope that students will be at school on testing days to take the test with their class, as that is the best testing situation for them.

Make Up Homework

Please request homework for students who are absent before 10:00 am, to allow the teachers enough time to prepare the assignments.

Make Up Day

February 15th and April 22nd will now be scheduled Make Up Days.  Since we were unable to utilize e-Learning Days on January 30-31, these will now be e-Learning Days.  There will not be school on those days.

Kougar Korner

One of our positive behavior supports is our Kougar Korner in the cafeteria!  This is a round table that is festively decorated with a tablecloth and centerpiece.  The names of children, who demonstrate positive behaviors, are entered on 'Kougar Paw' tickets and placed in a special container in the office.  On a regular basis, we draw names of students who earn the privilege of dining with a friend at the Kougar Korner!

Extra Curricular Activities at the High School

Students who want to attend any after school events at the Middle or High School are expected to be accompanied by a parent.  Students need to stay seated with their parents amd watch the event!
